BSW/MSW ONCAMPUS Instructor

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking qualified candidates for an On-Campus Adjunct Faculty position in Social Work within the School of Social Work. This position offers opportunities to teach in the on-campus modalities of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, across a variety of subjects, including: human behavior in the social environment, research, generalist/clinical/macro practice, policy, social justice, and various elective topics.

Position

Responsibilities for Community Embedded Teaching
  • Deliver high-quality instruction during weekly in-person classeson the Richmond, VA campus
  • Utilize VCU’s learning management system, Canvas
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans to facilitate effective learning experiences
  • Hold weekly office hours to provide guidance and support to students
  • Engage with students in a timely manner, utilizing excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Provide feedback and grades to students promptly
  • Fulfill additional duties as required while teaching in our Programs
  • Adhere to all Virginia Commonwealth University and School of Social Work policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
This is a part-time, non-benefited appointment Salary

$4,626 (3 credits) $1,542 per credit hour

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in the field of social workor a related field- two years post-graduate degree is preferred
  • Teaching experience, preferably in higher education, with a focuson social work education or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse student population
  • Clinical licensure is required for certain courses
  • Commitment to adhering to Virginia Commonwealth University and School of Social Work policies
  • Commitment to adhering to the NASW Code of Ethics
