Schedule will be determined by needs of department but mostly 7 am-4 pm, Tuesday-Thursday. 29 hours average per week.

Wytheville Community College is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper.

The Groundskeeper will : assist in the care of grounds including mowing, trimming trees and shrubs, and snow/ice removal;
Assist in the moving furniture for office and classroom changes and setups for special events, classes, and workshops;
Assist with basic building maintenance to include preventative maintenance, installations, light bulb changes and other building maintenance;
Obtain and maintain training in CPR, First Aid, and AED;
Complete all training required by WCC;
Practice regular and dependable attendance and punctuality;
Practice good teamwork among co-workers;
Display initiative and work efficiency;
Be observant and report conditions that may be detrimental to the college;
Participate in scheduled staff/safety meetings; and Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, administration and the public. Schedule will primarily be working Tuesday through Friday.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• High school education or equivalent;
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License;
• Working knowledge of basic trades;
• Ability to operate tractors, mowers, trucks, forklifts, and snowplows; and
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and respond to changing operational needs.
