We are working with specialist schools and alternative provisions across South West London and Surrey
, supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, MLD and behavioural needs
. We are looking for resilient, patient and relationship-focused SEMH Assistants to join their teams from September.

These are rewarding roles for people who understand that, for some young people,
re-engagement comes before academic progress
. Pupils may have experienced exclusion, prolonged disengagement or significant barriers to learning and require a consistent, supportive adult around them.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may be reluctant or resistant to education.
• Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, MLD and behavioural needs
  .
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom.
• Encourage pupils to re-engage with learning through patience, consistency and positive reinforcement.
• Support emotional regulation and help pupils manage challenging situations.
• Assist with practical, creative and vocational activities where appropriate.
• Support students whose academic attainment may be below age-related expectations
  .
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive routines.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support.
• Help maintain a calm, safe and structured environment.

• Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
  .
• SEMH, ASD, MLD, behaviour, care, youth work or mentoring experience is advantageous.
• Patient, resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
• Able to maintain clear boundaries whilst building genuine trust.
• A positive, non-judgemental approach to supporting vulnerable young people.
• Passionate about helping students who have struggled within mainstream education.
