Director, Energy Strategy
The Director, Energy Strategy leads early-stage energy and power strategy for prospective data center developments across North America, with a focus on East Coast markets. This role is responsible for shaping market-level and site-level power strategy, establishing decision frameworks, and influencing investment prioritization from Gate 0 through early Gate 2.
The Director operates as a senior strategic leader, providing guidance across Market Development, Site Selection, and executive leadership to ensure power feasibility, risks, and assumptions are clearly defined and embedded early in development decisions. This role does not own execution but is accountable for the quality, rigor, and consistency of energy strategy inputs that inform downstream delivery.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead execution of early-stage energy feasibility assessments for prospective data center developments (Gate 0–2), ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality outputs
- Develop and implement site-level power assessments evaluating feasibility, delivery timelines, scalability, and risk for assigned markets
- Identify and assess power availability, infrastructure constraints, interconnection pathways, and delivery schedules, translating findings into actionable recommendations
- Own delivery of energy-related due diligence outputs, including risk identification, mitigation planning, and documentation of key assumptions
- Support market entry and site selection decisions by providing structured analysis and recommendations aligned to broader development strategy
- Lead coordination across Market Development, Site Selection, Energy Planning, and project teams to ensure alignment and execution of energy feasibility work streams
- Manage relationships with utilities, IPPs, and external stakeholders to gather inputs on capacity, infrastructure requirements, cost considerations, and timelines
- Oversee and validate external inputs and technical analyses, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements
- Prepare executive-ready summaries and materials outlining power feasibility, risks, and tradeoffs to support leadership decision-making
- Drive execution of standardized tools, frameworks, and processes for energy strategy and feasibility assessment across assigned markets
- Ensure effective handoffs of energy analysis, assumptions, and risks to downstream execution teams to support project delivery continuity
- Lead and develop junior team members or analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight of deliverables
- Monitor and report on market trends, risks, and emerging constraints impacting power availability and project feasibility
- Additional duties as assigned by Management.

- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decision in complex, cross-functional environments
- Prior experience across electric utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), energy or infrastructure development, economic or business development supporting large‑scale infrastructure, data centers or other large‑load environments, or natural gas power and generation facilities
- Strong knowledge of utility service models, grid infrastructure, interconnection concepts, and power delivery constraints.
- Ability to operate effectively in early-stage, ambiguous environments with incomplete or evolving information.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate technical inputs into business-relevant insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-ready materials.
