Job Description & How to Apply Below

Dragon Energy is a vertically integrated geothermal energy company seeking a Field Operations Manager to lead and coordinate field operations in Virginia. Every system we put in the ground starts in the field, and this is a predominantly field-based role where you will own day-to-day execution: overseeing crews, managing job logistics, coordinating with project partners, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Our work is concentrated across the Richmond metro with some travel possible to other locations in Virginia.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone with a strong background in subsurface drilling who can solve problems in real time, lead a team with confidence, and help build the systems and processes that will carry Dragon Energy into its next phase.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience leading or directing teams
  • Background in subsurface drilling technologies (geothermal, water well, geotechnical, environmental, or oil & gas)
  • Strong field judgment with the accountability to operate independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and own the outcome
  • A drilling license you can carry into Virginia is a strong plus and we'll support the right candidate through that process
Why Dragon Energy:
  • Be a Groundbreaker - Join a new company at the forefront of geothermal heating and cooling, where your expertise will directly shape our field operations and long‑term strategy.
  • Leadership & Autonomy - Step into a role where your skills and decisions are trusted, valued, and central to the company’s success from day one.
  • Modern Equipment - Work with new, well‑maintained equipment, including our sonic rig
  • Strong Compensation - Competitive in a high‑impact role with real decision‑making authority and room to grow
  • Benefits - Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus paid time off, a retirement plan, and professional development opportunities
  • Purpose‑Driven Work - Play a key role in expanding geothermal systems that reduce demand on the grid and help our community access cleaner, more efficient heating and cooling technologies for generations to come.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Field Execution & Crew Leadership - directing crews, daily scheduling and job sequencing, keeping rigs and equipment field‑ready, and holding a safety‑first standard on every site.
  • Project Delivery - serving as the on‑site point of contact for clients and partners, coordinating subcontractors, and catching risks to schedule, budget, or quality early.
  • Logistics, Procurement & Process - owning purchasing and inventory so downtime never traces back to a missing part and building the SOPs that let the operation scale.
  • Safety, Compliance & Reporting - enforcing jobsite safety and stop‑work authority, ensuring permits and locates are handled, and tracking the metrics that matter (safety, cost per bore, footage, equipment utilization, on‑time completion).
About the Company:

Dragon Energy is a vertically integrated geothermal energy company. We design, drill, and deliver complete ground‑source systems that turn a building's single largest liability, its heating and cooling load, into a long‑term asset. Because we own the full stack, we solve the entire problem rather than one piece of it, all while building lasting relationships as the partner who sees it through end to end.

We work alongside HVAC contractors, builders, and property owners to make geothermal heating and cooling more accessible and scalable across Virginia and beyond. We offer competitive pay, a growing benefits package, and a work environment where experience is respected, input is valued, and the team looks out for one another. At Dragon Energy, you're not just showing up for a job, you're helping drive a shift toward smarter, more efficient energy use.

We're building a team that takes pride in doing the right things the right way, working with purpose, and fostering a culture rooted in safety, trust, and professionalism.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to the individual's race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, genetic information, status as a military veteran, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
