Clean Harbors – Traveling Field Inspector
Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Field Inspector. This role will work on remediation projects at customer sites alongside site supervisors and project managers, ensuring projects run on schedule, on budget, and in a safe manner.
Pay & TravelPay: $25/hr
Other Pay:
Per Diem available during the 6‑week rotation; considerable overtime available in the field.
Travel: 95–100% required – 6 weeks out, 1 week home paid. Some rotations may vary in length.
Accommodations:
Individual extended‑stay hotel with kitchenette when market allows.
Per Diem is available daily; travel costs are covered by the company.
Richmond, VA or other East Coast locations preferred; other locations considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Responsibilities- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting safely at all times.
- Accurately document site activities including cost tracking, worksheets, waste shipping logs, manifest management, health and safety records, meeting minutes, and other paperwork via laptop or mobile device.
- Work field‑hand labor alongside crew and Project Manager/Field Service Supervisor.
- Travel to different project locations including wastewater treatment plants, soil remediation sites, and more.
- Read and understand project documents and contracts.
- Earn 40‑hour Hazwoper, OSHA 10, and possibly additional certifications through the company.
- Calibrate air monitoring meters and associated Health & Safety equipment.
- Assist with project financial tracking and administrative functions, including generating required reports.
- Order and receive supplies for projects.
- Possibly operate some heavy equipment.
- Other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering preferred.
- Groundwater sampling experience preferred.
- Safety oriented with a commitment to safety.
- Willing to perform manual labor.
- Willing to work outside in all weather conditions while using prescribed PPE.
- Valid DL and clean MVR required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and professional level written/oral communication skills. Civil Engineering/construction/survey experience is a plus.
