Position Summary:The Traffic Control Superintendentisresponsibleforoverseeingdailytrafficcontroloperations ,ensuringallcrewsexecuteworksafely,efficiently,andinfullcompliancewithstate,local,andcompanystandards.
Thisroleprovidesleadership,scheduling,crew coordination,training support,andqualityassuranceacrossmultiplejobsites.
The Superintendentservesastheprimaryfieldliaisonbetweenprojectmanagers,clients,andtrafficcontrolteamstoensuresmoothoperationsandexceptionalservicedelivery.
- Direct,supervise,and support
Traffic Control Supervisors ,Assistant Supervisors,andcrewsacrossmultiplejobsites. - Conductdailyfieldcheckstoensurecrewsfollowpropersetup,safety,andequipmentstandards.
- Train,coach,andmentorstaffon
Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (VWAPM),Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT),andcompany procedures. - Assistmanagementinevaluatingcrewperformanceandidentifyingdevelopmentneeds.
- Coordinatedailyschedules,crew assignments,andequipmentdistribution.
- Ensureworkzonesaresetup,maintained,andremovedincompliancewithprojectrequirements.
- Leademergencyandshort-noticeresponsedeployments
- Troubleshootsiteissues,delays,orsafetyconcernsinrealtime.
- Reviewjobplans,Rapid Plan designs(as applicable),andcustomerrequestsbeforedeployment.
- Enforceallsafetyprotocolsandconductspotsafetyaudits.
- EnsurecompliancewithMUTCD,VDOT,Occupational Safetyand Health Administration (OSHA),andSpivey
Servicessafetypolicies. - Reportanddocumentincidents,near-misses,andequipmentdamage.
- Participateinsafetymeetingsandreinforcesafetycultureacrossteams.
- Serveastheprimaryfieldpointofcontactforcustomers,inspectors,andinternaldepartments.
- Communicateschedulechanges,road conditions,andprojectupdatestocrews.
- Provide clear,documentedfeedbacktomanagementregardingprojectprogressandpersonnelneeds
- Overseefleetandequipmentusage,ensuringpropermaintenanceandreadiness.
- Reportonequipmentfailures,shortages,orreplacementsneeded.
- Ensureproperinventoryofsignage,cones,attenuators,andotherworkzonematerials.
Required:
- Three(3) tofive(5) yearsofexperienceintrafficcontrol,roadway operations,orsimilarfieldwork.
- ATSSATraffic Control Supervisor (TCS),VDOTintermediateworkzonetrainingcertificationorabilitytoobtain.
- StrongworkingknowledgeofVWAPMandVDOTtemporarytrafficcontrolstandards.
- Experienceleadingteamsorsupervisingfieldcrews.
- Valid driver’slicensewithacleanandacceptable
Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). - Abilitytoworkoutdoorsinallweatherandrespondtoafter-hours needs.
- American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)
Intermediate Certification - ATSSATraffic Control Supervisor (TCS)
Certification - OSHA
10orOSHA
30 - Two(2) plusyearsofexperiencedrivingnon-CDLtrucks(18'–24')
- Priorexperiencesupervisingmultiplecrewsorhigh-profile/high-traffic projects
- Strong administrative,reporting,andtechnologyskills
