To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a/an Mechanical Design Engineer located in Henrico, VA
.

• Reporting to the Director of Engineering
  , the Mechanical Design Engineer will be based in Henrico, VA and will work closely with sales, project managers, procurement, production, quality assurance and other engineers, analyzing feedback from customers to produce or modify product designs.
• Meet with stakeholders to establish requirements for a new or existing product or mechanical system.
• Work with a team of engineers and CAD designers on engineering projects.
• Mentor junior members of the mechanical design team.
• Work from concept development and ensure plans meet client needs and engineering standards.
• Adhere to project timelines.
• Develop and refine processes and standards for mechanical design deliverables.
• Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Inventor and/or Solid Works) to create drawing specifications aligned with client needs.
• Create designs in accordance with applicable regulations, client specifications, industry standards and company norms.
• Focus designs on manufacturability and assembly while maintaining electrical system reliability, availability, and maintainability.
• Create prototypes, test them, and analyze results.
• Submit project deliverables to relevant stakeholders and provide support during the building process to ensure design specifications are met.
• Analyze problems that may arise during manufacturing and recommend solutions.
• Present maturity and professionalism when handling frequent exposure to clients and executive-level decision makers.
• Manage change control.
• Responsibilities may include some travel and/or availability outside normal business hours.

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (ABET-accredited) and a minimum of 6 years of engineering experience.
• Demonstrable knowledge of UL 891 Switchboards, UL 1558 Metal-Enclosed Low-Voltage Power Circuit Breaker Switchgear, UL 67 Panel boards, UL 857 Busway, UL 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment, UL 62368/60950 Information Technology Equipment, as applicable (preferred).
• Experience in the design of electrical power distribution systems (preferred).
• Experience with CAD programs such as Solid Works, AutoCAD Inventor & Vault, and MS Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and solid mathematics understanding.
