Fareva, a global third-party manufacturing leader serving the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, household, and industrial sectors, is seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering & Maintenance for their site in Richmond, VA, to lead all site engineering, facilities, utilities, and capital project operations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Site General Manager, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for Process & Packaging Engineering, Facilities & Utilities, Maintenance, Commissioning, Drafting & Design, and Capital Project Management. The Director will drive site reliability, operational excellence, regulatory compliance (cGMP), and long-term capital strategy while leading a team of engineering and project management professionals.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Engineering Leadership
  • Develop and execute site engineering strategy aligned with business goals
  • Identify and implement state-of-the-art equipment to maximize OEE
  • Drive automation, reliability improvements, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Lead equipment control systems and software strategy
Maintenance & Utilities Management
  • Ensure reliable supply of core utilities
  • Establish and manage preventive maintenance programs
  • Oversee facilities, infrastructure, and grounds maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP, OSHA, and company standards
Capital Project Management
  • Scope, budget, and execute site capital projects
  • Develop business cases and funding justifications
  • Manage projects from initiation through successful operation
  • Lead annual capital planning and multi-year project forecasting
  • Manage departmental budgets and labor planning
  • Maintain asset accountability and lifecycle planning
  • Develop and maintain the Site Master Plan aligned with strategic growth
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Set performance objectives and development plans
  • Coach and mentor engineering and maintenance teams
  • Establish succession plans and ensure workforce capability
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline (Advanced degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • 15+ years in pharmaceutical or related manufacturing industries
  • 10+ years in progressive engineering leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP-regulated environments
