We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Civil Engineer to join our growing Structural Engineering team in Richmond, VA
. This role works closely with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and specialists to deliver projects to a variety of clients including architects, owners and developers. Our team specialises in innovative and sustainable building solutions. We are committed to delivering high-quality structural designs and services to our clients across various industries.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute engineering best practices on a wide variety of projects for a wide variety of clients, adapting to new environments quickly
• Design and analyze structural systems for buildings that include reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, cold-formed metal framing, and wood framing.
• Design and study foundations and site infrastructure elements including shallow foundations, deep foundations, retaining walls, pedestrian bridges and pavements.
• Create 3-dimensional models of building structures using Revit software in collaboration with client Building Information Models (BIM).
• Actively involved in all structural project aspects including design/study development, construction management, project management, RFI's/RFPs/Submittals and client meetings, as needed.
• Assist Senior Structural Engineers and Project Managers in the production of project plans, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, technical memorandums and cost estimates.
• Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation and assessment for projects
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, cities/clients, and other public agencies
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering with 0-3 years of relevant work experience
• Proficient with Excel and Blue Beam or ability to learn
• Proficient with Revit
• Decisive with excellent critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
• Good written and verbal communication abilities, including preparing and giving presentations and interpreting reports
• Must be flexible, well organized, accountable and dependable
• Physically able to perform work in the field

Preferred

• EIT certification having successfully passed FE exam.
• Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline with an emphasis on structural design.
• Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD)
• Familiarity with current structural design codes such as IBC, ASCE, AWWA, and ACI.
• Demonstrated ability to use 3-dimensional structural analysis and design using Risa-3D or similar software.
• Demonstrated ability to use structural design software for structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood framing, foundations and retaining walls.
