Job Description
Please note:
This position is open only to current State (Commonwealth of Virginia) employees. This position primarily acts as the agency coordinator for the regional Solid Waste Groundwater Program. As Solid Waste Groundwater Program Coordinator, the position provides technical expertise, guidance, training, coordination, and auditing to the regional groundwater staff, regional managers and division management on groundwater monitoring, compliance and remediation issues, including the interpretation and application of applicable regulations and guidance.
In coordination with other agency staff and managers, the position develops, reviews and maintains agency guidance and manuals regarding solid waste groundwater monitoring and remediation. This is a restricted position. Continued employment is contingent on the availability of grant or non-general funds. Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.

58,000 - 90,000
Full Time or Part TimeFULL TIME
Responsibilities- Combination of education or training with major coursework in geology, hydrology, and/or engineering.
- Demonstrated knowledge of groundwater monitoring systems, groundwater remediation technologies, sampling and analysis procedures, and geotechnical/geophysical procedures.
- Certified Professional Geologist license is a plus.
- Knowledge of Federal and State environmental laws/regulations is essential.
- Must possess and demonstrate the following skills and abilities: ability to independently read and interpret engineering/geologic plans and specifications, effective problem solving and decision making skills, effective time management and organization skills, computer skills, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Combination of education or training with major coursework in chemistry, physics, biology, geology, earth science, engineering or other appropriate science. Certified Professional Geologist license is a plus.
- This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver's license is required.
