Overview

TRC is currently interviewing for a Project Manager for our Environmental Engineering and Remediation group in our Richmond, VA office. The Project Manager will work on a wide range of environmental projects in team support and project management. Assist in developing plans for the company's technical and regulatory activities required to achieve long‑range and annual goals and objectives. Be an active member of a project team when required.

Provide advice, counsel, and peer review to ensure the technical appropriateness and accuracy of fieldwork, including subcontractor work and all documents and reports. Use established communication channels and vehicles to update regulatory changes and their implications for current and future projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform job duties satisfactorily.
  • Design and execute environmental investigations, site assessments, and remediation, and provide recommendations for technical review.
  • Interpret data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and standards.
  • Author or provide technical or senior review of both technical and non‑technical company deliverables.
  • Perform project management duties, manage tasks within budget and timeline.
  • Prepare and review proposals.
  • Train and mentor technicians and junior‑level staff.
  • Prepare permit applications.
  • Prepare plans and reports in support of various environmental compliance activities.
  • Coordinate with clients.
  • Make presentations to clients and review marketing materials.
  • Maintain project files for assigned projects and provide project support.
  • Understand, participate, and follow Health & Safety program and plans.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Environmental Engineering or related engineering discipline (e.g., civil, solid waste) required.
  • Excellent understanding of and experience in utilizing pertinent aspects of geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, chemistry and public health in environmental assessments and remediation; experience in other related applications is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Environmental Laws and Regulations; knowledge and experience with Virginia Environmental Regulations preferred.
  • Understanding of field work tasks such as soil sampling, groundwater sampling, borehole logging, well installation, soil‑vapor sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, gas monitoring, site reconnaissance, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication and technical/computer skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office work products and associated computer skills.
  • Strong safety focus and work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across multiple locations within the organization.
  • Responsive and flexible.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must be results‑oriented with strong initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 40‑hr HAZWOPER training preferred – will be provided by firm if not already trained.
