Overview
This position implements the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program (VESMP) compliance strategy for high-risk land-disturbing projects, with a focus on Data Center and Solar developments. The inspector conducts stormwater and erosion and sediment control (ESC) inspections to ensure compliance with the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Act (VESMA), permits, and regulations. The role provides regulatory and technical assistance to DEQ staff, agencies, the regulated community, and the public.
The position serves as a subject matter expert in stormwater and ESC compliance.
- Implements the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program (VESMP) compliance strategy for high-risk land-disturbing projects, with a focus on Data Center and Solar developments.
- Conducts stormwater and erosion and sediment control (ESC) inspections to ensure compliance with the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Act (VESMA), permits, and regulations.
- Provides regulatory and technical assistance to DEQ staff, agencies, the regulated community, and the public.
- Identifies compliance issues, supports inspection guidance and strategy, and conducts local program reviews.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in stormwater and ESC compliance.
This is a restricted position. Continued employment is contingent on the availability of grant or non-general funds.
This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.
