We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Utilities & Wastewater Treatment to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of critical utility systems and wastewater infrastructure for a large‑scale pharmaceutical manufacturing new build.
This role plays a key part in bringing a greenfield facility from design through commissioning and startup, working closely with engineering, construction, and validation teams. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing GMP utilities alongside industrial wastewater treatment within complex CAPEX environments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end execution of utilities and wastewater treatment scope from design through commissioning and handover
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Align utilities and wastewater systems with construction, CQV, and site startup milestones
- Identify project risks and drive mitigation strategies across multiple work streams
- Oversee design, construction, and commissioning of pharmaceutical utilities, including:
- WFI, Purified Water, and Clean Steam
- HVAC and controlled environments
- Compressed air and process gases
- Chilled water and heat transfer systems
- Electrical and backup power infrastructure
- Ensure utilities are designed for reliability, scalability, and GMP compliance
- Review and approve engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, and technical specifications
- Oversee design, installation, and commissioning of industrial wastewater treatment systems
- Manage pretreatment systems, sludge handling, dewatering, and discharge processes
- Ensure systems can handle pharmaceutical manufacturing waste streams including APIs, solvents, biologics, and CIP waste
- Integrate wastewater systems with the broader site utilities infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with GMP/GDP requirements for utilities supporting manufacturing operations
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and site EHS standards
- Support permitting activities, inspections, and validation readiness
- Coordinate with EPC firms, engineering partners, and contractors
- Oversee on‑site execution of utilities and wastewater installation activities
- Manage RFIs, change orders, contractor performance, safety, quality, and schedule adherence
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related discipline)
- 8–15+ years of project management experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial environments
- Proven experience managing GMP utility systems and industrial wastewater treatment projects
- Experience supporting large‑scale CAPEX projects and/or greenfield site builds
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical utilities, wastewater treatment technologies, and regulatory compliance
- Key leadership role on a high‑profile pharmaceutical site expansion
- Hands‑on ownership of mission‑critical utilities and environmental infrastructure
- Long‑term project engagement with potential for extended involvement as the site ramps up
