Project/JobSummary
The Project Construction Organization’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is seeking a mid-career to senior level SCADA and Systems Communications Engineer to join our offshore wind engineering team. CVOW, the largest project of its kind in the United States, is a 2,600 MW wind farm located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach consisting of 176 wind turbines, three 880 MW offshore substations, and all the associated high-voltage subsea cabling.
As part of the CVOW Engineering and Project Management team, the successful candidate will work closely with our engineers, project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and package suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore wind projects.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of the CVOW Engineering team, the SCADA engineer/PM works closely with the CVOW project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and package suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore wind projects.
- Experience managing, coordinating commissioning scope of large project SCADA systems
- Demonstrated expertise as a technical leader and expert of complex scope with communications, engineering, and PM tools
- Demonstrated expertise, qualifications with SCADA and Controls programs, procedures, tools
- Demonstrated expertise with commissioning or operating power plant control centers
- The ideal candidate will possess experience providing engineering and project management support with respect to SCADA and communication systems for development and commissioning of large, utility scale projects.
- 7+ years of relevant SCADA and communications systems experience; any large-scale new generation projects or commercial utility experience a plus where experience focused on SCADA and communications.
- Present at work location to manage, supervise, coordinate, report on commissioning activities associated with the project/plant SCADA and Network
- Work primarily on SCADA, ACMS, HMI, Project networks, telecom and monitoring equipment, navaids, etc., including PTW, LOTO and SIMOPS
- Routinely present at work location to manage, coordinate, report on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting activities
- Track schedule progress and provide inputs to managers, schedulers
- Support process and review of deliverable documentation, e.g. reports, plans, As-Builts, etc.
- Execute and coordinate Owner documentation, and plans including NERC compliance
- Manage, coordinate, and authorize SCADA scope work activities in an energized work perimeter
- Draft, update, review, and authorize plans, procedures, and certificate documentation
- Owner representation to witness, inspect, audit, walkdown, and accept work
- Review and perform system validations and work authorizations on SCADA, ACMS, HMI, Project networks, TP monitoring equipment, navaids, etc., prior to in-service energizations
- Three-phase power systems
- Wind turbine generators
- Multi-network SCADA systems for the integration of multiple power trains with distinct separation of the network communications to meet the various regulatory requirements
- NERC Compliance requirements as they relate to SCADA and communications systems
- Degree required (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree):
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degrees
- Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position, must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
