Are you a GIS specialist with offshore wind experience and a passion for bringing order to complex spatial data environments? LAUTEC is seeking a driven professional to take full ownership of GIS data management and interface delivery for a large-scale offshore wind project currently in construction and early operations. This is your opportunity to sit at the center of a technically rich, multi-stakeholder project—consolidating disparate datasets into a unified, governed GIS system that will carry the project through construction and into long-term operations.
The RoleReporting to the LAUTEC project team, you will work closely with the client’s project team and third‑party data owners to understand existing data streams, define a consolidation strategy, and deliver an accessible, scalable GIS solution. You will be responsible for designing and implementing a standardised GIS database, developing a web‑based interface for end users, and establishing the governance frameworks that will support both construction activities and the eventual handover to the client’s operations team.
WhatYou Will Do
- Assess and inventory existing GIS data sources across multiple stakeholders and repositories, including site survey, environmental, geotechnical, UXO, permitting, and construction datasets
- Design and implement a consolidated, standardised GIS database that integrates data from disparate formats, systems, and physical media
- Develop and maintain a web‑based GIS interface appropriate for construction and operations‑phase workflows
- Establish and enforce data governance standards including naming conventions, metadata requirements, and version control
- Manage ongoing data synchronisation as new datasets are received from contractors and campaign operators
- Perform data validation, quality control, and gap analysis on incoming spatial data
- Create and deliver shape files and maps for subcontractor distribution on defined timelines
- Identify and filter which data layers are value‑add for display in the interface versus archival storage
- Support planning for transition and handover of the GIS system to the client operations team upon construction completion
- Provide recommendations on scalability, emerging technologies, and future‑state integration workflows
- Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Demonstrated experience supporting GIS systems on offshore wind projects (development, construction, or operations phase)
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or other enterprise GIS platforms
- Experience working with large, heterogeneous spatial datasets including survey data, geophysical/geotechnical data, and environmental records
- Familiarity with web GIS interface configuration and delivery (e.g. ArcGIS Experience Builder, custom web viewers)
- Strong understanding of spatial data formats including shape files, geodatabases, rasters, and GeoJSON
- Experience developing and documenting data governance frameworks and data management plans
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and coordinate data handoffs from contractors, consultants, and client teams
- Prior experience on U.S. offshore wind projects, including familiarity with BOEM regulatory requirements and permitting datasets
- Exposure to geophysical and geotechnical survey data (G&G campaign outputs) and marine installation data
- Experience migrating or ingesting data from physical media (external hard drives) into cloud or enterprise environments
- Familiarity with UXO survey data and associated spatial record formats
- Experience supporting GIS system handovers from construction to operations teams
- Knowledge of emerging GIS technologies, cloud‑hosted spatial platforms, and integration with asset management systems
