We are currently recruiting for a Senior Safety Engineer to join our Safety, Health and Environmental team in Richmond, VA
. This is a hybrid role that will require you to be located in Central Virginia to provide safety engineering support for Richmond Metro locations.
- Strategically enhance our Safety Management Systems and related processes to support the company’s purpose, vision, and culture to reduce loss and risk to the business.
- Independently apply regulatory, technical, and innovation principles and techniques to drive process integration into business operations focused on risk elimination and best practices. Recommend technical alternatives and support improvements.
- Drive team development either within operating companies or across enterprise to enhance behavioral practices and business performance.
- Integrate knowledge of requirements and regulatory/industry best practices throughout teams to drive employee ownership and compliance.
- Lead and/or participate in projects, conduct project reviews, provide key insights, requirements, and recommendations to eliminate risk, enhance compliance, and drive innovation.
- Prepare business justifications, project scopes, and budgets. Identify qualified vendors and consultants and direct their activities.
- Conduct formal risk assessments in Altria manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities to identify, prioritize, and abate significant risks to the business.
- Provide guidance to the business on risk reduction opportunities and abatement strategies. Integrate results of risk assessments into operating company plans and budgets.
- Lead or support complex investigations, regulatory agency inspections/inquiries, and provide litigation support.
- Serve as the facility safety engineer for Richmond area locations, requiring periodic site visits.
- Manage the location’s safety and health programs in conjunction with location management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field.
- 5+ years of safety management and compliance experience in manufacturing or consulting industry.
- Basic knowledge of environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse technical backgroundsducti>and across organizational and functional boundaries.
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Experience using data analytics and visualization platforms such as Power BI for performance metrics and reporting.
- Proven ability to establish positive relationships with regulatory agency staff and networking with stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel 10%.
- Capability to wear personal protective equipment as needed.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Additional Information:
The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. Salary Range: $91,500.00 – $.
