Automation Engineer – Production Reliability & Maintenance

Responsible for ensuring the LEGO automated manufacturing lines run with optimal reliability and product excellence.

• Ensure the LEGO production team meets reliability and product quality requirements through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of automation equipment.
• Establish detailed maintenance work instructions and technical documentation with internal networks and equipment suppliers for automation technicians.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and investigations on PLC equipment failures that affect product quality, equipment uptime, and packing capacity.
• Provide expertise in spare parts management, including technical specification confirmation and substitution recommendations.
• Lead improvement projects related to logical software operation and standardise critical software parameters with the global OT team.
• Develop and maintain a standardized approach for robots, programming standards, safety protocols and operator interfaces following global implementations.
• Validate and install new automation applications for packaging processes and the main control system of machines.
• Manage the control system of manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, smart devices, and process data acquisition for remote monitoring and control.
• Lead continuous improvement and project management of new machinery and support production activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a related field (BS preferred).
• Proven experience in maintenance, engineering or automation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of machine safety and experience with safety protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• High analytical skills and strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Willingness to work weekend and off‑shift hours during implementation phases.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement and quality tools.
• Knowledge of wiring, HMI and PLC programming (Allen Bradley & Siemens). Ladder Logic programming skills are required.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation (RSLogix 5000, RSLinx, Factory Talk View Studio) and general OT knowledge.
• Experience in automation areas such as pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, electronics, robotics and related diagrams.

• Salary range: $84,674 – $127,010 (based on responsibilities and experience).
