Senior Traffic Engineer

Senior Traffic Engineer Responsibilities

• Performing and managing traffic engineering design and studies related to work‑zone traffic control, signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic operational analyses.
• Managing various traffic‑related tasks and collaborating with roadway, structures, hydraulics, and environmental groups within the Transportation business unit.
• Preparing design and cost estimates, meeting with clients, and assisting in proposal development.
• Monitoring schedules and budgets, and leading and mentoring a group of junior traffic engineers.

• Minimum 5 years of traffic engineering experience, including VDOT, MDOT, and/or design‑build projects.
• BS in Civil Engineering.
• PE license preferred; PTOE preferred.
• Micro Station experience required.
• Proficiency with analysis software such as VISSIM, Synchro, Sim Traffic, HCS (preferred).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Project management and leadership skills (preferred).
• Experience with VDOT, MDOT, MSHA, MDTA and design‑build projects (preferred).
