Role Description
Arcadis is looking for a Project Water Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water Team in either Virginia or Maryland. We are searching for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates who are interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions related to water quality, scarcity, reuse, management, and resilience. You will collaborate with experienced Water Professionals to support, manage, and drive the development of projects, interact with clients, and develop your technical and professional capabilities.
Accountabilities- Lead tasks and projects for the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater distribution/collection systems, pump stations, and/or treatment plants.
- Develop design and construction documents, including reports, technical memoranda, and specifications, to ensure projects are planned and executed effectively.
- Provide support in the construction administration of projects, ensuring processes are efficiently managed and align with established guidelines.
- Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams, requiring strong communication and coordination skills to achieve project objectives.
- Serve as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager on projects, overseeing critical tasks and ensuring the successful delivery of project goals.
- Develop scopes of work and budgets that align with client and organizational expectations.
- Support client teams by identifying, tracking, and positioning for new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to organizational growth.
- Participate in pursuit/capture planning for new project opportunities and assist in the preparation of proposals to secure future work.
- Travel locally as required to attend project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes, or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
- 6 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- PE license.
Skills and Abilities
- Project management experience.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about technical challenges.
- 10 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water/wastewater market.
- 2 years of experience in local municipal water/wastewater markets.
- Master of Science or Master of Engineering in a related field.
- Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
Salary range: $85,000 – $130,000 per year (actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, and location). Full‑time positions include medical, dental, and vision coverage, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, a reward and recognition program, and optional benefits such as wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement. Paid holidays: 9 per year;
paid time off: 15 days annually, accruing per year.
