MEP Team Lead – Richmond, Virginia

As part of the Buildings team for Garver, the MEP Team Lead will be responsible for growing the Buildings practice in the Richmond, VA area. This includes building and leading a multi‑discipline engineering team that supports architectural clients, developing regional architectural firms as Garver and Buildings Team clients, providing engineering support for architectural clients—particularly structural, mechanical, and electrical—and managing projects and providing discipline‑specific design.

• Build and lead a multi‑discipline engineering team that supports architectural clients.
• Develop regional architectural firms as Garver and Buildings Team clients.
• Provide engineering support for architectural clients, particularly in structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
• Manage projects and provide discipline‑specific design.

• Discipline‑specific building design experience in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience working directly for architectural clients and managing the engineering aspects of a building design project.
• Experience in client relations and project pursuits.
• Knowledge of building components and systems.
• Knowledge of engineering and sustainability principles.
• Utilization of CAD and BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
• Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
• Maintain strong time management and product quality.
• Keep accurate and up‑to‑date project accounting on all assigned projects.
• Develop and follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans.
• Commit to continuing education and learning based on project needs and overall team needs.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical or electrical focus from an ABET‑accredited university or college.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
• 5 to 15 years of building design and construction industry experience.
• Actively engaged with architectural clients.
• Interested in building a market‑specific engineering team that supports architectural clients.
• Proven experience overseeing designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
• Technical competence in building system designs.
• Experience with Autodesk Revit.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
