Introduction

GFT is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Water to join our Water / Wastewater Team in Richmond, VA. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Richmond, VA office.

Joining the water resources team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. Our team excels in dams and levees, advanced water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance, collection, and transmission. With a focus on integrating technology, sustainability, and compliance, we consider each water resources and environmental remediation project a chance to innovate and evolve to protect public health and enhance quality of life.

What

you’ll be challenged to do

In this role, you will work closely with our technical experts, project teams, and client service managers to advance our technical services and support business development on a wide variety of wastewater and water resources projects in Virginia.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, and client agreements
  • Lead and oversee design and technical aspects of the team(s) projects including detailed engineering design and calculations, report writing, permitting, and presentations to clients
  • Write responses to client RFQs and solicitations
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders
  • Coordinate and monitor project tasks, budgets, and schedules
  • Participate in the development of company design and production standards
  • Direct and manage the implementation of a project including coordination with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and other external and internal parties to achieve project milestones
  • Oversee and manage construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget
  • Participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community
  • Support client marketing and business development activities required to procure project assignments, including development of scope, schedule and budget for proposals
  • Mentor staff and lead development of other project managers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Virginia
  • 15 or more years’ experience managing substantial water and wastewater projects from conception to completion
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills
  • Successful record of delivering projects on schedule, budget and meeting the client’s expectations
  • Ability to provide oversight and guidance of project management fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Knowledge of potable water treatment and wastewater treatment a plus
  • Knowledge of local codes, development processes, and utility regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders
  • Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Actively involved in professional associations and civic organizations
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
