A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee‑owned consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Licensed Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA.
Position will supervise a team of field and office survey staff, manage clients, project schedules, budgets, and deadlines. Establish task outline and survey procedures for each task assignment. Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews for each task assignment. Provide mentoring for office and field survey staff.
Responsibilities- Supervise office and field survey staff
- Prepare survey task outlines with the role and responsibility of each survey staff assigned to the project
- Perform kickoff meetings with engineering managers and clients to confirm the limits of the survey, the scope of work, and key briefing and debriefing of field crews on daily work performed
- Oversee scheduling of field and office survey staff
- Correspond and coordinate with clients
- Perform quality control checks of field survey data collection and office survey computations and completed survey drawings
- Provide mentoring for survey office and field staff
- Perform troubleshooting on challenges encountered on survey task assignments
- Prepare proposal scoping and fees
- Track project schedule and budget
- Project invoicing
- Responsible for the financial outcome of survey tasks and projects
- 10+ years of surveying experience or comparable survey coursework with degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Surveying, or Engineering preferred
- Virginia Licensed Surveyor
- Valid Driver's License and safe driving record
- Supervisory experience, leadership skills, and strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent client services and client management skills
- Excellent organizational skills and adherence to AMT survey protocol
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent survey task assignments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong team player with a commitment to company values
- Mentoring survey office staff and field staff
- Ability to work under and respond to stressful situations
