This position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager.
Work model for the role:
Onsite, Richmond, VA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to optimize the Production organization’s assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety.
- Define the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.
- Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components support production targets; ensure the production process complies with project targets.
- Identify and recommend improvement opportunities, implement improvement projects, and ensure adherence to timeframe, quality, and cost requirements; approve the design for processes developed internally or externally and perform final tests with respect to the project.
- Provide support to Production during the internal/external process/equipment start‑up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources; evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria, and external provider choices.
The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution facility.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and SAP (or similar ERPs) is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and 5S is preferred.
- Experience with project management and a proven history of driving and sustaining change.
- Candidates must already have work authorization that permits them to work for ABB in the U.S.
