New Graduate Project Engineer - Traffic Analysis & Planning

Job Overview

We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer I for our Traffic Analysis & Planning Group in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on traffic studies, planning, and design, collaborating with clients and internal teams.

• Conduct operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis.
• Perform bicycle, pedestrian, and multi-modal feasibility analysis, design, and implementation.
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and software to solve problems.
• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols.
• Develop design details and plan sets.
• Collect field observation, inspection, and data as directed.
• Collaborate with client staff and internal design team.
• Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports to support project success.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field; coursework in transportation/traffic preferred.
• EIT preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic analyses, planning studies, traffic safety, forecasting, traffic signal design, ITS design, or traffic signal timing is preferred.

Estimated salary range: $77,000. Offers based on internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
