This position reports to:
Engineering Manager
The work model for the role is:
Onsite, Richmond, VA
Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as an authority for testing and verification activities. Each day, you will facilitate completion of testing activities efficiently, timely, cost-effectively, and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also showcase your expertise by providing feedback for the design process from the testing perspective.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Designing and developing electrical test fixtures and processes to be implemented in factory production testing of high-power, low and medium voltage UPS, PDU, and STS products.
- Lead test infrastructure design projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Developing, implementing, and improving relevant policies and procedures to improve testing efficiency and quality across the testing function.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics on high-power three-phase power protection equipment such as UPS, STS, and PDU
- Acting as an authority to ensure all applicable requirements, maintaining test reports and certificates that prove compliance with required and applicable standards, market, or regulatory requirements in line with customer specifications, legal, or ABB internal requirements
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Minimum 2 years electrical-related manufacturing work experience
- Strong grasp of 3 phase power system analysis, required
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including but not limited to the NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code), building codes, energy codes, etc.
- Low Voltage Switchgear or industrial electrical safety system design experience, a plus.
- Medium Voltage experience, a plus.
- Python, MATLAB, Labview or PLC programming experience, preferred.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
