We have an immediate opening for a Hydrogeologist to join our Water Team in central Virginia.
As a Hydrogeologist, you will play a key role in a wide variety of physical and chemical hydrogeology projects, including groundwater supply development, groundwater resource monitoring, groundwater and surface water withdrawal permitting, aquifer testing, groundwater modeling, groundwater exploration, water supply planning, and water conservation and management planning. Your expertise will contribute to diverse initiatives that protect and enhance our most precious resource—water.
Your key responsibilities include promoting a strong health and safety culture, developing well drilling, construction, and testing specifications for contractors, overseeing and logging drilling and construction of new water supply wells, monitoring water levels on-site and remotely in Stantec client well fields, conducting fracture trace and other remote sensing analyses, coordinating and interpreting geophysical data, developing groundwater withdrawal permit applications, developing water conservation and management plans, conducting groundwater modeling, conducting flow and impact analyses, conducting analytical and/or numerical groundwater flow modeling, reviewing field information from investigations, conducting and interpreting aquifer tests, working with multi-disciplinary teams, preparing technical reports and client presentations, performing QA/QC of technical documents, and traveling as required to various field sites.
Your capabilities and credentials include experience with water supply hydrogeological work, consistently producing high-quality and organized results, being highly self-motivated and proactive, having strong organizational and time management skills, and having excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and experience required include a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Geology or related geosciences field, minimum of 5 years of working experience in a consulting environment, preferred experience working for a variety of client types, existing Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or working toward GIT, and a valid driver's license.
