Position: Naval Architect / Marine Engineer

Job Description

Everforth ECS is seeking licensed Professional Engineers (PE) with distinct expertise in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Structural engineering to work remotely.

Please note:

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Typical Duties And

Responsibilities Include:
  • SWBS Ownership:
    Assume total technical responsibility and quality control for SWBS groupings applicable to your domain, ensuring work adheres to 100% of the project requirements.
  • PE Stamping & Certification:
    Review, verify, and stamp design packages, calculations, and specifications for classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV) and flag state authorities as necessary.
  • Requirements Management:
    Map end user requirements to holistic systems and engineering methodologies, ensuring no design criteria or regulatory standards are missed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Coordinate directly with other SWBS leads to ensure proper integration of weight, stability, power, other ship services, and structural interfaces.
  • Life‑Cycle Support:
    Support and help to drive the design spiral, shipyard construction, commissioning, and in‑service modifications/drydockings.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure designs meet project specifications, class requirements, and maritime regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, USCG).
  • Review & Modification:
    Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and implement modifications to accommodate changes in project scope.
  • Briefings & Reports:
    Develop and present technical materials at all levels, including senior executives for efficient review and decision making.
  • Some level of travel may be required.
Specific Functional/SWBS Requirements Include:
Structural Engineer (Naval Architect / Marine Engineer)

Focus Area: SWBS Group 100 (Hull Structure), Group 200 (Propulsion), and Group 500 (Auxiliary Systems).

Responsibilities
  • Design and evaluate hull forms, scantlings, and foundations.
  • Evaluate conceptual designs for ship systems and identify the work required to develop the associated detailed/production designs.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and first‑principle calculations to ensure structural integrity.
  • Manage weight monitoring and structural evaluation to maintain vessel intact and damage stability.
  • Develop drawings (with the assistance from CAD drafters) of associated systems.
Qualifications

PE in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture. Experience in lifting appliances, structural design, or hybrid propulsion is a plus.

Mechanical Engineer (Marine Engineer)

Focus Area: SWBS Group 200 (Propulsion Plant), Group 300 (Electric Plant – Mechanical Aspects), Group 500 (Auxiliary Systems), and Group 600 (Outfit & Furnishings).

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications for piping, HVAC, and refrigeration systems, and steering gear.
  • Evaluate conceptual designs for ship systems and identify the work required to develop the associated detailed/production designs.
  • Conduct hydrodynamics, thermo‑fluids, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for propulsion systems.
  • Select, size, and integrate main and auxiliary systems including pumps, fans, valves, and other mechanical components.
  • Develop drawings (with the assistance from CAD drafters) of associated systems.
Qualifications

PE in Mechanical or Marine Engineering. Familiarity with CFRs, ABS, USCG, MARPOL, and SOLAS regulations.

Electrical Engineer (Marine Engineer)

Focus Area: SWBS Group 300 (Electric Plant) and automated control segments of Group 400 (Command & Surveillance).

Responsibilities
  • Design power generation, distribution, and conversion systems for both ship service and emergency loads.
  • Develop electrical load analyses, short‑circuit calculations, and arc‑flash studies.
  • Integrate hybrid/electric propulsion architectures, switchboards, and marine cabling networks.
  • Integrate Regulatory and Class Society certification requirements such as Safe Return to Port (SRtP), Automated Centralized Control Unmanned (ACCU), Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS‑0 through DPS‑3), etc.
  • Develop drawings (with the assistance from CAD drafters) of associated systems.
