Civil Engineer Design Lead

Arcadis is looking for a Civil Engineer to support our Mid-Atlantic Region. This role can be based out of any of the following Arcadis offices:
Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Hanover, MD, Washington DC, Philadelphia, PA, or Wilmington, DE.

The candidate in this role will perform site civil design and project management tasks for a variety of projects in the region. Tasks may include site layouts, grading, hydraulic modeling, utility design, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control design, and task/project management.

• Lead site civil design and permitting efforts for municipal and industrial facilities, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and utility transmission and distribution projects.
• Manage the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure all work complies with contracts, drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Arcadis quality and safety standards.
• Communicate closely with clients, establishing clear goals and objectives for project teams, and coordinate resources and schedules to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
• Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.
• Navigate local and state permitting requirements to obtain regulatory approval for projects.
• Supervise and support the work of others, mentoring junior‑level engineers and technical staff.
• Work directly with clients to determine needs, deliver solutions, and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.
• Travel locally as required.

• 8 years or more of experience in site civil projects.
• BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license.

• Experience in land development projects and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
• Client‑facing experience and ability to develop contacts and relationships.
• Ability to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several assignments.
