The Mechanical BIM Technician is a full-time, on-site position based in our Richmond office. This role is responsible for developing and coordinating Building Information Models (BIM) and construction documents for K-12, higher education, municipal, commercial, and public safety projects throughout Virginia. Responsibilities include creating detailed mechanical models, producing construction drawings, coordinating designs with multidisciplinary project teams, and maintaining accurate project documentation.
The Mechanical BIM Technician works closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and other design professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality project deliverables while supporting projects from design through construction.
- Prepare code-compliant mechanical design drawings using AutoCAD and BIM.
- 3D drafting of commercial and institutional building mechanical (HVAC) systems.
- Read and interpret architectural & mechanical engineering drawings/blueprints.
- Analyze internal needs with engineering team to create designs and modify existing designs.
- Complete part detail and assembly prints per engineering standards and best practices.
- Create mechanical one-line and three-line diagrams and mechanical controls schematics.
- List materials for ordering and fabrication.
- Coordinate with and consult with other team members to design or layout detailed components and to resolve design or other problems.
- Familiar with MEP disciplines and Revit coordination to effectively communicate with internal teams of engineers.

- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently or on a team
- Revit MEP and AutoCAD proficiency required
- Previous work experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) desired
- MEP experience highly desired
- New building construction industry experience

Salary Range is $22.00 - $42.00 an hour with overtime opportunities
