Stantec is hiring a skilled Project Manager with strong Water/Wastewater infrastructure experience—someone who's ready for meaningful, challenging work and excited to help grow our presence in the Mid‑Atlantic region. If you want to be part of a purpose‑driven team that truly cares about helping clients, colleagues, and communities thrive, this could be your next move. Our people are our greatest strength, and when you join Stantec, you'll bring your expertise in pumping stations, water treatment, and wastewater treatment projects into a culture that values inclusion, celebrates shared wins, and encourages ambition.
We're looking for someone with strong technical expertise—someone who can evaluate and select systems, develop and review designs, run calculations, coordinate teams, and mentor junior staff. Many of your projects will involve complex challenges that call for sharp engineering, creative problem‑solving, and confident decision‑making. You'll also guide the evaluation of project approaches to ensure reliability, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness. Beyond project delivery, you'll play an active role in business development.
That includes building and strengthening client relationships, identifying new opportunities, supporting proposal development, and helping position our team for long‑term success. You'll be a key part of growing our water practice in the region and shaping the future of our Mid‑Atlantic portfolio. This is a hybrid role based out of one of our Mid‑Atlantic offices.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and oversee construction of water distribution and reservoirs, wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and conducting treatability and feasibility studies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the project, including the management of existing client relationships.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners, contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Provide project leadership for water and wastewater projects, including providing guidance and mentoring to project staff.
- Supervise the work of other staff, including setting the priorities for their scope of work, their budgets and their schedules for completing the work.
- Review and conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for making project decisions.
- Lead and coordinate efforts for the evaluation, selection and specification of engineered water and wastewater systems or products for a project.
- Manage financial aspects of projects including monitoring budget, invoicing, generating invoice support materials, calculating estimates to complete and following up with clients on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Lead and support project teams in the coordination of project construction documents including contract drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Interface directly with clients and management regarding status of project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate and participate in constructability reviews.
- Oversee and ensure quality assurance and control on own managed projects and projects of peers.
- Remain current on regulatory policy and rule changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.
- Lead the preparation of proposals including developing scope, budgets, design approaches; participate in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts.
- Take an active role in marketing and business development for positioning for potential projects.
