As a Structural Bridge Engineer and vital member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work on transportation projects that focus on bridges and other transportation structure designs. You will serve in a technical role on bridge design projects and perform structural analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation highway projects on local and national projects.
We'll look for your knowledge and experience in:
Analysis as well as the development of design, plan preparation, specifications, and reports. Inspection may be required on occasion.
The final candidate could be located near our offices in Reston, Richmond or Virginia Beach, VA.
Here's what you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering
- 2-4 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on bridge design
- Engineer-In-Training(EIT)
- Previous experience working with VDOT, including familiarity with their Office Practice Manuals, Stage I reports, and Stage II requirements for submission.
- Ability to produce design documentation/calculations and specifications.
- Working knowledge of CAD systems, specifically Micro Station to include experience with VDOT CADD Compliance Standards and use of MDLs
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., MDX, LEAP Bridge, Larsa)
- A thorough understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ideally you'll also have:
- Demonstrated experience on various types of bridges, including both concrete and structural steel bridge types
- Experience in both new bridge design as well as maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and preservation.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Proven experience with BrIM workflows and Open Bridge Designer (Bentley Systems).
- Active involvement in local engineering societies.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
