The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU (ICA at VCU) seeks a collaborative, organized, and creative Part‑Time Program & Event Producer to support the planning and execution of public programs, community events, artist talks, performances, screenings, and special initiatives during a six‑month term. This role is ideal for someone with experience in arts, culture, nonprofit, or higher education programming who thrives in a dynamic, audience‑focused environment.

The Program & Event Producer will work closely with ICA staff, artists, community partners, and vendors to ensure engaging and well‑executed experiences for diverse audiences.

With free admission, the ICA is a major resource for VCU, Richmond, and beyond.

Position Summary

The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU (ICA at VCU) seeks a collaborative, organized, and creative Part‑Time Program & Event Producer to support the planning and execution of public programs, community events, artist talks, performances, screenings, and special initiatives during a six‑month term. The Program & Event Producer reports to the Senior Curator & Director of Curatorial Affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate logistics and production support for ICA public programs and events
  • Develop event timelines, production schedules, and run‑of‑show documents
  • Liaise with artists, speakers, performers, vendors, and community partners
  • Coordinate venue setup, AV needs, catering, staffing, and event materials
  • Provide on‑site event management and troubleshooting during programs
  • Track budgets, invoices, contracts, and production expenses
  • Maintain organized program records and post‑event reporting
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in event production, arts administration, public programming, or related fields
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities independently
  • Familiarity with event technology, audiovisual coordination, and virtual platforms
  • Proficiency in Asana and Google Workspace
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with artists, cultural organizations, or community‑based programming preferred
  • Interest in contemporary art, public engagement, and interdisciplinary programming
  • Experience working in museum, university, nonprofit, or cultural institution settings
  • Commitment to accessible and community‑centered programming practices
Salary

$28/hour
