Chesterfield – 041. Pay Range: $16.00 – $20.00 per hour.
Schedule:
Up to 29 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
The Theatre Technician is responsible for the technical aspects of events held in Brightpoint Community College’s Lynn Theatre. The role includes booking and scheduling events, maintaining hospitality standards in communications with renters, performers, patrons, and visiting artists, and supervising student workers across the auditorium, scene shop, lighting, front of house, sound, and props during productions and rehearsals.
Responsibilities- Assist with booking and scheduling of events.
- Maintain high standards of hospitality in communication with renters, performers, patrons, and visiting artists.
- Supervise student workers in auditorium, scene shop, lighting, front of house, sound, and props during the theatre’s active periods.
- Report directly to the Department Chair for Performing Arts.
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration.
- Experience as a Theatre Technician in one or more technical areas.
- Knowledge of theatre management and equipment for lighting, scenic design, sound design, and costume design.
- Supervisory skills and effective communication with leadership, colleagues, internal clients, faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines independently or as part of a team.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Lighting, Stage Management, Sound, Scenic, or Costume Design.
- No state benefits; may travel between campuses as needed.
- No required travel beyond campus locations.
- No vehicle operation required.
