Position SummaryThe Virginia Lottery, an independent state agency, is seeking a professional to join its Gaming Compliance Department. This position focuses on ensuring that all gambling activities are conducted in a safe, fair, and compliant manner, while protecting players from harm and promoting ethical standards. You will be responsible for the management, development, implementation, and evaluation of best practices regarding responsible gaming and problem gambling prevention.
Key Responsibilities- Establish frameworks and regulatory oversight to ensure gaming practices prioritize player protection and ethical standards.
- Create, update, and enforce responsible gaming policies.
- Collaborate with gaming operators and organizations focused on preventing and treating gaming addiction.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate compliance gaps.
- Administer Virginia's voluntary and mandatory exclusion programs, ensuring data integrity and timely processing.
- Draft and issue official violation notices and coordinate with legal and compliance teams.
- Develop and deliver training materials for staff and at-risk patrons.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for responsible gaming inquiries.
- Represent the agency at hearings, legislative meetings, and industry conferences.
- Prepare status reports and statistical information for the Leadership Team and Lottery board.
- Considerable knowledge of responsible gambling policies and procedures.
- Ability to remain calm, tactful, and unbiased.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of providing accurate information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive customer information.
- Excellent writing and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
- Extensive experience in program development and implementation with community buy-in.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in public health or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in the administration of a responsible gambling program.
- Must complete a background investigation.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving history required.
- Minimal travel throughout Virginia is required, with occasional travel outside the state.
- Telework eligible (up to 2 days per week).
