Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Revenue Operations is responsible for establishing, overseeing, and modernizing the organization’s revenue and accounts receivable operations. This role will lead the development of new systems, processes, and controls to accurately track and manage all accounts receivable activity, replacing the organization’s current system. This position is both strategic and hands-on and will initially perform and oversee accounts receivable functions while standing up a scalable revenue infrastructure.
The Director of Revenue will support the financial operations of the organization and ensure accurate record retention, regulatory compliance, and effective revenue reporting. This role is full-time and on-site in Richmond, VA, reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Investments. This position is Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Establish, oversee, and manage all accounts receivable and revenue operations.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a new revenue and billing system to replace the organization’s platform.
- Design, document, and implement standardized revenue workflows, processes, and internal controls.
- Record and oversee lockbox deposits, ACH, credit card, insurance, and hospital payments and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, identify collection risks, and develop strategies to improve cash flow.
- Maintain and oversee accurate billing, payment, and refund records for physicians, hospitals, and insurance entities.
- Coordinate with printers, mailing services, and external vendors related to billing notices and system support.
- Collaborate with hospitals, medical schools, and insurers to ensure accurate billing data and timely updates to provider lists.
- Oversee and provide direction to temporary contractors and any Accounts Receivable staff.
- Prepare revenue reports, analyses, and recommendations for leadership.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Support audits and respond to revenue-related inquiries as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, billing, and revenue operations.
- Demonstrated experience in modernizing or implementing financial or revenue systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive and strategic mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead initiatives in a developing function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive financial experience in accounts receivable, revenue operations, or financial management is required.
- Leadership, project management, or system implementation experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in government sectors preferred
