Tax Associate

We are seeking an experienced Tax Associate to join a fast-growing accounting and financial services firm based in Richmond, VA. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while supporting a unique and diverse client base. You’ll play a hands‑on, client‑facing role focused on tax strategy, compliance, and advisory services, not just return preparation.

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including Individual (1040), Partnership, and S-Corporation filings
• Manage tax planning and strategy for a portfolio of clients
• Analyze financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Advise clients on deductions, credits, and tax‑saving strategies
• Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
• Review completed returns for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Collaborate with internal team members and oversee junior staff as needed
• Assist with onboarding new clients and maintaining organized tax records
• Serve as a trusted point of contact for tax‑related questions and guidance

• 2–4 years of tax preparation experience
• Strong experience with 1040, Partnership, and S-Corp returns
• CPA or EA designation preferred
• Proficiency with Quick Books and Excel
• Solid understanding of federal and state tax regulations
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills with a client‑service mindset
• Experience in high‑volume individual tax environments is a plus
