JOB SUMMARY:Our client is seeking a Revenue & Project Accountant to support accurate project financial tracking and revenue recognition across a growing portfolio of work. This role focuses on monitoring project costs, budgets, and profitability while ensuring revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606 and internal policies.
You’ll partner closely with Project Managers, Sales, Billing, and Accounting to support informed decision-making and maintain strong financial controls throughout the full project lifecycle
What You’ll Do:- Set up and maintain project budgets, cost codes, and financial tracking structures
- Review and process project-related invoices, expenses, and accruals
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and revenue against approved budgets
- Track work-in-process (WIP) and overall project profitability
- Prepare and analyze project financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
- Prepare and review revenue and cost of goods sold journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue and unbilled revenue accounts
- Reconcile revenue, deferred revenue, and WIP balance sheet accounts
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and applicable financial regulations
- Partner with Sales to understand customer contracts and revenue terms
- Collaborate with Billing to ensure invoicing aligns with contractual requirements
- Work closely with Project Managers to identify cost overruns and financial risks early
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance revenue and project accounting efficiency
- Calculate quarterly sales commissions in accordance with plan terms and ensure timely payout
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
- 3-7 years of accounting experience, ideally in a project-based environment
- Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, and financial controls
- Solid knowledge of revenue recognition concepts; ASC 606 experience strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting construction, engineering, IT, or consulting projects is a plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
