Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

We are partnering with a growing, technology-enabled financial services organization seeking a Controller to lead and scale its accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role or an experienced Controller looking for a hands‑on leadership position in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

This role is fully onsite and reports directly to senior leadership.

The Controller will oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including financial reporting, month‑end close, general ledger management, and audit coordination. This is a player‑coach role
, requiring both hands‑on execution and team leadership.

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Maintain general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to leadership
• Manage accruals, journal entries, and account analyses

• Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
• Ensure audit readiness and support external audit activities
• Oversee compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
• Establish clear expectations and accountability across functions
• Foster a high‑performing, collaborative team environment

• Support and optimize accounting systems and financial tools
• Partner with internal stakeholders on automation and process enhancements
• Leverage technology to improve reporting and operational efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA strongly preferred
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience owning the full close cycle and working with external auditors
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Prior experience in financial services, mortgage, real estate, or similar industries preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
