Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

We're hiring a Controller to lead the accounting function for an established community association management firm based in Richmond VA. This is a high-visibility role with full ownership of financial operations, a team to lead, and a portfolio of community association clients who rely on you to keep their financial picture clear, accurate, and on time.

You’ll oversee all accounting activities for a portfolio of condominium and homeowners associations — from financial reporting and budgeting to billing, collections, and internal controls. You’ll lead and develop the A/R, A/P, and staff accountant teams, partner closely with Property Managers on annual budgets, and serve as the financial face of our clients to their boards of directors.

A typical week might include:

• Reviewing financial statement packages and ensuring on‑time delivery to clients
• Presenting financials to community association boards and walking them through variances
• Refining internal controls across budgeting, cash management, and AR/AP
• Coordinating with external auditors and tax preparers on client accounts
• Monitoring client banking activity to ensure accurate balances and timely postings
• Coaching and developing your accounting team

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of experience as a Controller (community association or property management industry strongly preferred)
• 3+ years directly supervising a team of financial professionals
• Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Comfort with ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced Excel
• Confidence presenting complex financial information to non-financial audiences (board members, property managers, owners)
• Sharp attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines without dropping the ball
• Vantaca experience is a plus!
