Job Description: Financial Analyst
Location: Richmond, Virginia (Hybrid)
Role OverviewThis role supports Capital Construction Projects within Finance Business Services, focusing on PJM-related forecasting, cost control, and financial tracking. This is a hybrid position that merges project controls with financial analytics, requiring ownership of forecasting and financial communication across projects. The position acts as the central point for project financials, coordinating with internal teams to drive updates and track deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Own project-level cost tracking and forecasting across capital projects.
- Monitor actuals versus forecast and identify variances.
- Process invoices and ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Support cash flow modeling and forecasting.
- Use historical cost data to build and refine estimates.
- Develop and maintain holistic forecast models.
- Provide monthly updates for leadership presentations.
- Analyze the financial impacts of updates and communicate downstream effects.
- Interface directly with external and internal project teams.
- Actively drive conversations to obtain necessary information and ensure accountability.
- Track task orders and project-level requests.
- 2+ years in project controls, financial analysis, or cost accounting.
- Experience supporting capital projects, preferably in construction or energy.
- Exposure to forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with PowerPoint for executive-level reporting.
- Comfort with data analysis and financial modeling.
- Proactive mentality with a drive to move tasks forward.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with stakeholders.
- High degree of ownership and accountability.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle ambiguity.
- A background in Finance, Accounting, or Business is preferred.
- SAP experience.
- Understanding of energy markets or commodity exposure.
- Familiarity with utilities or capital construction environments.
- Prior experience with utility-scale renewables or grid operators.
- Exposure to S-curve forecasting or capital project cash flow modeling.
