Director, Consumer Center of Excellence

Role Overview

Compliance & Ethics (C&E) is seeking a Director who will lead key initiatives within the Compliance Fair and Responsible Banking (FRB) team to enhance governance and oversight of the Compliance Management Program (CMP). The Director will work with associates to sustain and improve governance practices, ensuring Capital One effectively manages compliance risk.

• Play a key role in designing and delivering initiatives that enhance the existing Compliance Management Program.
• Collaborate with stakeholder communities, including General Compliance Advisory & Testing, Enterprise Risk Management, audit, business risk offices, and front‑line process owners, to improve governance practices.
• Leverage data and analytics to inform outcomes and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Work cross‑functionally to achieve shared objectives.
• Anticipate, identify, and elevate problems early and propose mitigations.
• Provide strategic program leadership, aligning the program within a matrixed, regulated environment.
• Design, develop, and manage risk‑management focused project plans in a dynamic environment, revising as needed.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal, or audit.
• At least 5 years of process, project, or program management experience.
• At least 4 years of people management experience.

• Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor.
• Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP).
• 7+ years of experience in financial services.
• Experience designing and implementing compliance management programs.
• Expertise in consumer protection laws (e.g., FCRA, SCRA).

Base salary ranges by location: – Chicago, IL:  187,300 –  213,700 – McLean, VA:  206,000 –  235,100 – Richmond, VA:  187,300 –  213,700 – Riverwoods, IL:  187,300 –  213,700 The role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
