Senior Associate - Finance Data and Technology Risk Advisor

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional for a Senior Associate risk advisory position within the Finance Risk Management (FRM) team. FRM associates are engaged and insightful risk management partners working across the Finance organization to execute robust and proactive risk‑management programs, improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations while reducing risk, and influence decisions in support of our stakeholders and internal customers.

Our risk organization strives to enable a strong culture of risk management across Finance that is adaptable to an ever‑changing environment. This position will support our Finance Product and Data Solutions (FPDS) organization with a heavy focus on technology and data risks relative to the processes that power day‑to‑day financial operations and drive our Finance organizational strategy. The role will also have opportunities to engage in other finance‑related initiatives in support of our business partners or the FRM team.

An ability to thrive in ambiguity and make strong connections to enable thorough risk identification, effective problem solving, and grow stakeholder trust will contribute to the candidate’s success.

  • Perform risk assessments to ensure teams across Finance are adhering to internal risk standards, e.g. Enterprise Risk Management, Information and Data Management, or Technology Operations expectations.
  • Synthesize information from disparate sources that enables FRM to influence business, product, and technology leaders to make grounded, risk‑based decisions – identify themes to support the risk story.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of audit and regulatory exams as they pertain to responsible areas.
  • Champion ideas related to process or controls improvements with considerations for emerging technologies as a means to mitigate risks.
  • Identify opportunities to continually mature our FRM practices and governance.
  • Provide risk education and support to stakeholders as the risk subject matter expert within areas assigned.
  • Report on the health of work assigned, ensuring sufficient awareness and transparency to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to include procedures and presentation materials.
Basic Qualifications

  • Education or experience with cloud‑based technologies.
  • Experience assessing Generative AI and Agentic AI risks.
  • Risk Management, or Product Management, or Process Engineering certifications (APRM, CDMP, CPM, Six Sigma, BPM etc.).
