** POSITION TITLE
** Accountant, Alternative Investment Accounting
** POSITION LOCATION
** Richmond, VAThis position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days is required. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-5pm EST.
** YOUR ROLE
** As an Investments team member, you’ll play a key role in the innovative investment strategies that enable our company and our financial products to serve our customers and their families when they need us most – now and in the future.
** What you will be doing
*** Support accurate U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting and reporting for the organization’s Alternative Assets investment portfolio, supporting large scale projects, developing and maintaining robust internal controls framework
* Evaluate system outputs to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for our alternative assets portfolio
* Research and review of accounting guidance to assess existing processes – identifying potential efficiencies and/or gaps in current business processes
* Perform assigned accounting responsibilities, including account reconciliations, transaction reviews, loan pricing analysis, real estate owned accounting, and journal entry and financial reporting preparation.
* Partner with the Finance Teams across all product lines and assist in the development and execution of Investment strategies
* Collaborate cross-functionally to create efficiencies and deliver superior business results
* Support accounting policy implementation and strategic business process redesign efforts
* Help maintain SOX controls documentation and evaluate deficiency risks through on-going review and validation of key operational processes
* Perform other duties as assigned
** What You Bring
*** Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related discipline
* CPA is preferred
* 2-5 years of U.S. GAAP and/or U.S. Statutory accounting and reporting experience
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups and communicate complex information clearly
* Ability to balance multiple projects at once and prioritize appropriately
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Outstanding communication and presentation skills
* Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
* Skills including MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Copilot)
