Job Duties

Central Criminal Records ensure statutes, policies, and procedures governing the creation, retention, organization, reproduction, and archiving of inmate records are accurately applied and that records and information dealing with inmates confined within the department and the jails are accurately kept and maintained. This position supports Central Criminal Records in the reviewing, researching, and responding to requests for inmate records information by following all applicable State, Federal, Local and Departmental guidelines.

They maintain accurate audits of records maintained by Central Criminal Records.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic knowledge of the Code of Virginia as it pertains to criminal sentencing. Ability to work independently and analyze and resolve problems with general guidance from supervision. Ability to adapt to changes in procedures, priorities and the automated system. Establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the work unit. Ability to comprehend and interpret complex laws, legal documents and policies.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Working skills in operating automated equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of inmate based practices.

Additional Considerations

Experience in a field related to criminal justice, especially in criminal procedures and records processes.
