Job Duties

The Office of Emergency Preparedness is seeking a highly organized and experienced Training & Development Coordinator Senior to develop, deliver, and coordinate comprehensive training programs that enhance emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience. This position plays a critical role in ensuring staff, partners, and stakeholders receive high-quality training that supports organizational readiness and compliance with applicable standards.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or
state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. May be
required by VDH to adjust work hours, location, and job duties and participate in training to
meet public health business needs, including emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge of adult learning theory and training methods, needs
    assessments, organizational development, information technology related to
    education/training (including distance learning and learning management systems), and
    program evaluation.
  • Requires group facilitation expertise including effective oral and written
    communication skills.
  • Requires ability to work effectively as a member of teams including public health
    staff, healthcare and emergency management partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, communicate, and consult constructively.
  • Strong problem-solving, customer relations, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in developing instructional plans and supporting methods and materials.
  • Ability to manage logistical, administrative, and contractual details
    associated with the program.
Additional Considerations
  • Substantial experience providing education/training programs preferred.
  • Experience in emergency preparedness and response.
