Your impact
The Junior Public Engagement & Outreach Analyst supports the planning and delivery of meaningful, inclusive, and transparent engagement for electric transmission projects. This role builds relationships with communities, landowners, public officials, agencies, Tribal representatives, environmental justice communities, and other stakeholders throughout project planning, permitting, construction, and closeout.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, environmental, regulatory, real estate, legal, and stakeholder-engagement disciplines.
Core functions of the job may include:
- Support public engagement and stakeholder outreach plans for electric transmission projects.
- Assist with event coordination, venue logistics, staffing, materials, and documentation for open houses, workshops, public hearings, community meetings, and site visits.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with landowners, community groups, municipalities, regulators, elected officials, and partner organizations.
- Prepare stakeholder communication materials, including presentations, fact sheets, newsletters, meeting notices, FAQs, web content, and comment forms.
- Explain project purpose, routing, schedule, potential impacts, benefits, and mitigation approaches in clear, accessible language.
- Collect, document, and track stakeholder questions, concerns, and feedback using stakeholder relationship management databases and issue logs.
- Promote culturally appropriate, equitable, and accessible engagement practices, including outreach to historically underserved and environmental justice communities.
Primary responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach using established scripts, templates, and engagement protocols.
- Maintain stakeholder databases, action-item trackers, comment logs, contact lists, and project records.
- Participate in meetings with landowners, communities, agencies, and public officials.
- Apply established guidance to identify questions, issues, and commitments requiring escalation.
- Develop foundational knowledge of transmission projects, permitting processes, and community engagement practices.
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public policy, environmental studies, planning, political science, community development, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
2–4 years of relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, community relations, or communications.
Ability to translate technical project information into clear, understandable language for diverse audiences.
Strong research, organization, technical writing, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with stakeholder relationship databases or GIS-based outreach tools.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25% of time for site visits, community events, and evening/weekend public meetings.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Experience supporting electric transmission, utility, renewable energy, or linear infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of local, state, or federal siting and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental justice, equity-focused engagement, or Tribal consultation.
- Multilingual skills relevant to project service areas
