The Department of Criminal Justice Services is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a part-time (wage) Critical Incident Preparedness and Response Training Coordinator in Richmond, Virginia. This position supports the Critical Incident Preparedness and Response (CIPR) training program with the Division of Public Safety Training and the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (PST-VCSCS). • The chief objective of this position is to provide training coordination and delivery, technical assistance, program development, resources, and policy guidance to state and local government agencies, first responder personnel (including law enforcement, fire services, and EMS), public school divisions, institutions of higher education, school resource officers, school security officers, and professional organizations. To support and assist these entities in implementing and managing critical incident preparedness and response programs.
• The position also supports the procedures, operations, and assignments necessary to prevent, manage, and respond to critical events or emergencies. These may include incidents of violence on school property or at school events, active attacks, acts of terrorism, and other serious threats to the safety of the community, students, staff, or facilities.

• Demonstrated experience in critical incident preparedness and response, including the use of emergency response plans, the Incident Command System (ICS), and statewide response protocols.
• Demonstrated Extensive experience in law enforcement or public safety, with knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, and organizational structures of law enforcement, Fire/EMS, first responders, and K-12 school divisions.
• Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, and evaluating critical incident preparedness and response training programs.
• Ability to develop and revise policies, procedures, guidance documents, and training materials while interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and state policies.
• Experience establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with local, state, and national public safety stakeholders.
• Demonstrated knowledge of program planning, administration, and state government policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to implement new initiatives and solve complex problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, communicate program objectives, and summarize accomplishments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and related business software.

• Certification as an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) adjunct instructor as documented by Texas State University.
• Demonstrated experience delivering citizen-focused and first responder-focused law enforcement and Fire/EMS training programs statewide.
• Experience with Program Management.
• Experience with Program Planning and Evaluation.
• Experience with training coordination.
