Job Duties
Chief Objective:
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a PROTECT Coordinator for Industry Accountability, within the Programs Division, to support the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) efforts to reduce gun violence by strengthening accountability across the firearm industry and identifying practices that contribute to illegal firearm trafficking, diversion, and violent crime. This role will work closely with the Firearm Accountability and Industry Responsibility (FAIR) Section Chief within the Civil Litigation Section.
The Coordinator will work closely with FAIR attorneys, investigators, law enforcement, researchers, and external partners to collect and analyze information, identify trends and potential areas for enforcement, and support the development and implementation of strategic industry accountability initiatives. In collaboration with the FAIR Section, this position will help strengthen partnerships and information sharing to ensure the OAG's enforcement, prevention, and public safety efforts are coordinated and informed by data and emerging trends.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support implementation of the OAG’s firearm industry accountability strategy.
- Coordinate research and information gathering related to firearm manufacturers, distributors, dealers, trafficking patterns, and other industry practices affecting public safety.
- Work with attorneys, investigators, analysts, and external partners to organize and track information relevant to enforcement and accountability efforts.
- Maintain organized records, research, data, partner information, and project deliverables.
- Assist with identifying trends, patterns, and emerging issues related to firearm commerce and gun crime.
- Coordinate meetings and information sharing with law enforcement, researchers, national partners, and other stakeholders.
- Support development of reports, presentations, briefing materials, and strategic recommendations for OAG leadership.
- Track implementation of industry accountability initiatives and related outcomes.
- Support cross-agency projects connecting enforcement, prevention, research, and public education.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of professional experience working directly in criminal justice, public policy, investigations, legal support, research, public safety, or related fields.
- Must be highly knowledgeable about firearms policy, gun violence, consumer protection, industry accountability, or regulatory work is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships with a variety of agencies and manage complex, grant-funded programs.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; experience training diverse audiences and speaking publicly on sensitive victim-related issues.
Additional Considerations
An undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Public Policy or a related field.
