OverviewThe Clinical Nutrition levels I and II competently provide and document nutrition care to patients as applicable to the practice area. This is a great opportunity to join a team that values the role that nutrition plays in disease management. This position is a Monday through Friday position, providing coverage when other team members are scheduled off. Excellent communication skills are needed for teaching patients/families and other health care team members.

- Registered as a Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- For Clinical Nutrition I:
May be registry eligible, but must pass the RD exam within the first 6 months of employment. Advancement to Clinical Nutrition II requires one year after passing the RD exam.
- Maintenance of Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- CPR training for those practicing in the outpatient nutrition clinic.
- For Clinical Nutrition I:
Less than one year of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting. - For Clinical Nutrition II:
One or more years of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting as a Registered Dietitian (unless grandfathered).
- For Clinical Nutrition II:
If the position is within the outpatient clinical area, experience in counseling in an acute care or outpatient care setting is desired.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Outpatient positions:
Specialty certification in the area of practice. - Certificate in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management);
Motivational interview training. - Experience with clinical research protocols for applicable positions.
- Nutrition care activities described in departmental policies/procedures.
- Cannot provide nutrition care to end‑stage (dialysis) renal patients until one year post registration.
- Medical Nutrition Therapy Patient Orders:
After competency is determined by the supervisor, may modify diets, order snacks/supplements, initiate and manage enteral tube feedings, and may order head circumferences, heights, lengths, weights. - Communication with health care team/patient food service managers regarding patient needs.
- Provision of in‑services to staff.

AdditionalPosition Requirements
- Work weekends as assigned by supervisor.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics and accountability for actions and behavior.
- Travel to satellite clinics (e.g. Stony Point, Hanover) when needed, as determined by supervisor.
- Pediatric outpatient positions:
Flexibility regarding work hours to include evening appointments.
As appropriate based on assignment.

Lifting less than 20 lbs.
